Teacher Feedback from 2024 WA State F1 and Subs in Schools Event:
The opportunity for students to mingle with students from other schools and to interact with STEM professionals. I also liked that trestle tables were provided for all booths regardless of class of competition. The event also felt like it ran smoother than in previous years.
All information was communicated prior and during the event for smooth transitioning. The timings were great to ensure the day wasn’t rushed, while also ensuring the day finished in a timely manner (main day of competition judging). To be honest, the entire event was well planned and executed.
The opportunity for competing students to mingle with each other at the accommodation, making connections and seeing from other perspectives.
We asked the students what did they learn through the program?
“I learnt a lot about apps that I have never even heard of before and I have learnt a lot about F1 cars.”
“I learnt how to use new software, and work under pressure”
“I learnt how to solder, and that perseverance is key”
“I learnt a lot of the defence force, future career paths on medicine and buoyancy of our ROV.”
“Through the program I learned how to change and load 3D printers as well as adapting and adjusting files, so they’d be able to print. I also improved my communication and collaboration skills and learnt how to effectively work on a timeline and under a time limit.”
